A file with the M3U8 file extension is a UTF-8 Encoded Audio Playlist file. They are plain text files that can be used by both audio and video players to describe where media files are located.

For example, one M3U8 file may give you references to online files for an internet radio station. Another might be created on your computer to build a playlist for your own personal music or a series of videos.

An M3U8 file can use absolute paths, relative paths, and URLs to refer to specific media files and/or entire folders of media files. Other text information in an M3U8 file may be comments that describe the contents.

A similar format, M3U, can use UTF-8 character encoding, too, but may include other character encodings as well. Therefore, the .M3U8 file extension is used to show that the file is in fact using UTF-8 character encoding.

How to Open an M3U8 File

M3U8 files can be edited and read by most text editors, including Notepad in Windows. See this list of the Best Free Text Editors for some other options.

However, as you can see below, opening this M3U8 file in Notepad only lets you read the file references. You can’t actually play any of these music files like this because text editors are not the same as media player or media management software programs.

Here’s an example of the same M3U8 file from above but open in VLC, which will gather all the music files referenced in the text file and load them into the media player for playback.

Another way to play M3U8 links you find online is with the Chrome extension Play HLS M3u8.

Some of these programs also let you create an M3U8 file. For example, if you load a bunch of files into VLC, you can use the Media > Save Playlist to File… option to create an M3U8 file.

How to Convert an M3U8 File

If you’re looking to convert M3U8 to MP4, or to MP3, or to any other media format, you first need to understand that an M3U8 file is a plain text file — nothing more and nothing less. This means it just contains text, nothing that can actually «play» like how an MP4 or MP3 file can play in a media player.

What you’re probably after is a file converter that can convert the audio or video files that the M3U8 refers to, to and from other audio/video file formats, like an MP4 to AVI converter or a WAV to MP3 converter (or any other variation of these types of files). The only problem with doing this is that sometimes an M3U8 file points to media files that are in several different locations at once. This may include various folders on one or more internal hard drives, flash drives, and/or an external drives.

We don’t have any download links to dedicated playlist converters that do conversions like M3U8 to M3U, but some M3U8 openers like VLC can re-save an open M3U8 playlist to another format like M3U, XSPF, or HTML, which is essentially the same thing as a conversion.

Расширение M3D градируется на три основные категории:

3D Model File, представляющий собой файл с набором структурированных данных, включающих в себя трехмерные модели персонажей, зданий и сооружений, особенности ландшафта, а также другие 3Д-объекты, которые являются частью игровой программы Vice City and EverQuest.

Данная игровая утилита адаптирована для работы только на платформе ОС Windows.

M3D формат, являющийся результатом моделирования в системе автоматизированного проектирования (САПР) КОМПАС-3D. Являясь САПР высокого уровня, КОМПАС-3D предназначен для управления инженерными данными и создания трехмерных объектов различных изделий, включая машиностроительные конструкции, архитектурные сооружения, конструктивные элементы в сфере приборостроения и гражданского строительства.

Расширение M3D не востребовано в среде рядовых пользователей. Основные его потребители – конструкторы и инженеры, владеющие инструментами и методами проектирования САПР.

M3D формат (полн. DIALux 3D Object File) – файл, являющийся результатом генерации программного плагина DIALux. Данная утилита предназначена специально для анализа и расчета схем освещения. Может включать трехмерные модели различного инвентаря и их изображения предварительной визуализации. Основная область практического применения расширения – хранение, импорт и экспорт 3D-объектов.

Изображения для предварительного просмотра в рамках формата M3D могут быть экспортированы в JPG файл.

Программы для открытия M3D файлов

Исходя из принадлежности к категории и области своего практического применения, M3D формат в ОС Windows может создаваться и воспроизводиться следующими программными приложениями:

Если при открытии расширения M3D возникает ошибка, причины могут заключаться в следующем:

• поврежден или инфицирован файл;
• файл не связан с реестром ОС (выбрано некорректное приложение для воспроизведения или не произведена инсталляция конкретного плагина);
• недостаточно ресурсов устройства или ОС;
• поврежденные или устаревшие драйвера.

Конвертация M3D в другие форматы

Уникальная структура и область применения M3D для каждого конкретного случая не предоставляют возможностей для конвертации данного формата в другие расширения. Попытки конвертации расширения в другой формат могут не только не дать никаких практических результатов, но и повредить исходный файл. В этой связи трансляция данного формата практически не практикуется.

Исключение составляет, пожалуй, только M3D-расширение, созданное с применением САПР КОМПАС-3D.

С применением интегрированного в САПР транслятора данных M3D может быть преобразован в самые разнообразные форматы, используемые для трехмерного моделирования, включая STL, OBJ, FBX, DXF, LWO, MDL, MD2 и многие другие.

Почему именно M3D и в чем его достоинства?

M3D расширения нельзя назвать широко распространенным и востребованным форматом среди обычных пользователей, однако он нашел свое применение в некоторых узкоспециализированных областях:

• генерация в САПР КОМПАС-3D 3Д-моделей различных машиностроительных конструкций, архитектурных сооружений или других конструктивных элементов;
• анализ и расчет схем освещения;

Чем открыть файл m3u

Формат m3u появился в 1997 году. Что же это за формат m3u чем открывать его? Изначально это был стандартный вид плейлиста, введенный компанией Nullsoft для своего медиа-проигрывателя Winamp. Теперь почти все проигрыватели его поддерживают. Чем-то особенным он не выделялся, его первая версия представляла собой простой список, перечисляющий пути к музыкальным файлам, которые предстоит воспроизвести проигрывателю. Каждый путь к файлу начинается с новой строки. При этом, реализована поддержка, как относительных путей, так и абсолютных (полных). Позже появилась возможность использования URL, чтоб задавать путь к файлу. В качестве кодировки использовалась Windows-1252. Файлы имеют расширение m3u, и если их редактируют вручную (в текстовом редакторе), следует обязательно сохранить их в кодировке ANSI (Windows-1252) для того, чтобы в следующий раз медиа-проигрыватели смогли их корректно открыть. В файле также могут содержаться комментарии, которые начинаются с «#». Затем появился extended m3u, в этом формате задаются теги для файла, длительность, название плейлиста. Следующая эволюция m3u – формат m3u8 — это m3u в Unicode-кодировке. Один из популярных способов применения m3u – это создание плейлистов, которые содержат только одну запись, указывающую путь к потоковому вещанию.
